In-person classes are held at the Butte College Skyway Center - 2480 Notre Dame Blvd, Chico, CA 95928.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
with Senta Burton, MSW

This course offers an informal, yet thorough approach to Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an evidence-based intervention for children from hard places of abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Topics include Understanding Trauma, TBRI Empowering, Connecting, and Correcting Principles, as well as real-life examples and testimonials from caregivers and professionals who use TBRI.

Fostering Healthy Engagement & Communication
with Miranda Johnson, MSW & LVN

This workshop will focus on improving engagement and connection with foster youth. It will also cover topics such as improving and facilitating communications between support workers, bio families, foster families, and children to provide holistic support to youth in foster care.

Fostering Advocacy & Support
with Miranda Johnson, MSW & LVN

This workshop will focus on the roles and responsibilities of foster parents in youth advocacy. It will also cover topics such as the purpose of CFT Meetings, the roles of CASA workers, and youth advocacy in the education setting (IEP/504 Plans).

A Trauma-Focused Approach to Disaster Preparedness
with Miranda Johnson, MSW & LVN

This workshop will focus on disaster preparedness and explore the impact past trauma can have on youth’s response to new traumatic experiences. It will focus on ideas to support and care for youth and families during traumatic events to limit retraumatization.

Grandparents as Parents

Grandparents as Parents is a support group of caregivers that are currently raising or have raised their grandchildren or another person's children. This group meets to provide support and information, as well as share personal experiences, with one another. It is open to any foster parent or anyone who is raising someone else's child.

First and third Thursday of the month, 11:00am – 1:00pm
